The First Ancient Theatre

The restoration of a characteristic industrial sample from the beginning of the century, the ‘Pappas’ Mill’, has been completed, and the city’s First Ancient Theatre is being rapidly uncovered.

Characteristic is the intense cultural activity through the actions of the Municipality’s legal entities, as well as the various activities carried out by organizations, associations, initiative groups, and sports clubs across all disciplines.

The redevelopment of the city center and the Fortress hill, utilizing traditional elements and extensive pedestrianization, highlights the city’s historical identity, as well as a vibrant commercial and recreational activity with positive effects on the morale of citizens moving through the city center.

The squares, parks, and green spaces in the neighborhoods, sports centers, kindergartens, KAPI (Open Care Centers for the Elderly), infrastructure projects, road construction, water supply, sewerage, biological treatment, natural gas, as well as intense urban reconstruction activity, have begun to yield positive results in recent years, giving Larissa the image of a modern European city.

Today, heading full speed into the third millennium and leveraging the favorable climate that is slowly but steadily establishing itself in the field of Local Government, Larissa, through the actions and initiatives of the Municipal Authority, strives to achieve a better social, intellectual, and cultural future.

Pappas' Mill

In recent years, Larissa has faced the challenge of continuously adapting to rapid changes in the economic, social, and cultural landscape. The environment, employment, and improved quality of life conditions are becoming key elements in these developments.

The Municipality of Larissa has shown keen interest, activity, and initiatives in shaping a comprehensive policy that highlights these elements as central points, leveraging experiences and capabilities at national and European levels from numerous scientific bodies and local government organizations through research and application collaborations.
